Moana
Moana became an immediate hit when it was released in 2016. This is a two-hour-long Disney movie based around an islander girl’s adventures. Moana goes on an extensive voyage with a demigod named Maui. She faces and conquers the ocean, which was something that her people were always scared of. Not only is the storyline unique and well put together, but the animation is unbeatable. Moana went on to get nominated for an Oscar for “Best Animated Feature” and “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures”. Toy Story 1, 2, 3 & 4
It isn’t often that every movie in a four-movie franchise is a hit, but the Toy Story movies are! Toy Story is about a group of toys that come alive and go on many adventures – a pizza restaurant, a toy store, a daycare, a carnival, and so much more. If you purchase or download all four of the productions, your children are going to be set for hours upon hours. You won’t have to worry about having to decide on a new movie to watch – just watch all four of these! The first in the series was released in 1995, and the most recent was released in 2019. These films have aged well and never fail to keep children wanting more. All four of the movies will be available with a Disney+ subscription, as well as purchasing for a few dollars on various streaming services. Finding Nemo & Finding Dory
Finding Nemo was released in 2003 and since then has gone on to have great success. There are too many awards to name but some of the bigger ones are winning an Oscar for “Best Animated Feature”, being Oscar-nominated for “Best Writing, Original Screenplay”, and being nominated for a Golden Globe for “Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical”. There are a total of 48 award wins and 63 nominations. Finding Nemo is about a young fish that gets separated from his father in the vast ocean. The story takes us through his adventures to get back home. Finding Dory is the long-awaited sequel to Finding Nemo. It was released 13 years after its predecessor. The sequel announcement was made in 2013 with a long promotion campaign before it was released in 2016. This storyline picks up most of the main characters from the first movie. It takes us through Dory’s story, who was one of the main characters in Finding Nemo. Finding Dory went on to become a huge success on its own!
Cars
Cars is a movie based around a world of talking and interacting cars. The storyline is about an overconfident racecar, Lightning McQueen, who gets misplaced in an old, run-down town while on his way to an important race. Throughout the movie, the racecar learns to humble himself and make friends. This film was released in 2006. There were two films to follow in the series, but it was difficult to beat the success of the first one. Once again, these movies are available on DVD, on Disney+ with a subscription, and on various streaming platforms.
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid was released in 1989 making it the oldest movie on this list. Even though it’s an older production, it is a classic. Your children are sure to love it. It is a Disney princess movie about the mermaid Ariel. It takes us through her adventures and love story on both land and in the sea. The Little Mermaid won a few Oscars for the music within the film. It also won a Golden Globe and was nominated for another.
