The Escapees RV Club hosted their 61st Escapade in Lebanon, Tennessee this year. This event took place June 19th through 24th, 2022. The Escapees Escapade is an annual event that changes locations every year. The Escapees Club provides membership for every type of RVer. This club’s demographic is wide; it is made for young to old, novice to experts, part-time to full-time, and everything in between. The first Escapade event was in 1978, and they have been a great success ever since. From a kid’s zone to boot camp, to a chili cook-off, this extensive week is a must-go event for many RV travelers!

The event’s schedule was very extensive, so there was always something to do. Let’s dive into some of the Escapade entertainment! On Sunday evening, June 19th,  the performer was “Charlotte Pike.” This group is a husband and wife duo based out of Tennessee. The next night, Monday, June 20th, the headliner was “Cornfield Mafia.” This is a country music band out of Indiana. They have released original albums, and also perform covers. The next evening, Tuesday the 21st, the “Po’ Ramblin’ Boys,” took the stage. They are a classic, homegrown bluegrass band with original songs and covers. They have even recently been nominated for a Grammy! The night of June 23rd was titled the Thursday Farewell Festival and the performance was by “Charlie’s Bad Habit.” This band performs anything from rock to country to jazz. They were the perfect group to finish off the week on an upbeat note!

Not only are there bands that come in and perform, but the Escapees themselves are given the opportunity to show off their skills. Every year, the Escapade puts on a talent show for all RV members to take part in. You can see magic shows, singing, instrument playing, dancing, and more! Any RVer is welcome to sign up and be a part of the show with their extraordinary skills, or they can come and watch their peers on stage!

Besides a talent show, there was a wide variety of events scheduled for the week. One of the most popular items on the schedule is the RVers Boot Camp. This is put together in a classroom setting with professionals and speakers that help with all aspects of RV life. Attendees are taught about anything from choosing the right RV to maintenance, safe driving, and so much more. The Boot Camp took place three days before the actual start of the Escapees Escapade for those that want this additional information and experience. There is an additional cost involved with registering for this event, but it includes the three days of learning, meals, a book, handouts, focus groups, and more.

The Escapees Escapade provides a great program for children as well! The Kidscapade gives children and grandchildren of RVers the opportunity to meet with one another and get involved in the rally! This program puts together fun and informational events for the kids like crafts, games, storytimes, and hands-on activities. They even get to perform during the talent show! The Kidscapade is completely FREE for all Escapees Escapade members.

Throughout the whole week, there were seminars and group activities open to everyone. There is no need to worry about signing up ahead of time because all seminars are available for walk-ins. For group crafting activities, there is usually a sign-up that is required to be filled out ahead of time. This ensures that the correct amount of supplies are available for each crafter.

To keep things fun, there were special shirt colors of the day for people to wear. On Sunday, everyone was invited to wear a special event shirt. On Monday, the shirt color was red. The color for Tuesday was turquoise. Wednesday was Heroes Day, so everyone was welcome to wear a shirt that represents their heroes, or red, white, and/or blue. For Thursday, the last day of activities, the shirt color was yellow. It wasn’t mandatory to wear these colors these days, but it makes it fun and exciting to match with everyone around you!

The cost of the rally totals out to be $299 if you do early bird registration. After that date, the cost becomes $329. This cost includes boondocking for the 5 nights of the rally and access to all of the scheduled events! To add a 30 amp E/W, there is an additional $150 cost. All children under the age of 18 years old get in free. For a more detailed run-down of registration costs, head over to: https://escapade.escapees.com/registration/
